Air Force PT Standards 2024–2025 (Legacy)

The retired 1.5-mile-era PFA standards, kept for reference, and how they compare to the 2026 PFRA under AFMAN 36-2905.

What Were the 2024-2025 Air Force PT Standards?

Through 2024 and 2025 the Air Force scored fitness with the Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) under DAFMAN 36-2905 (22 April 2022): a 1.5-mile run, push-ups and sit-ups, with approved alternates for each component. Testing paused on 1 January 2026, the new Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment (PFRA) charts took effect on 1 March 2026 with a diagnostic period through 30 June, and official PFRA scoring began on 1 July 2026 (af.mil, 6 Jan 2026 and 23 Jul 2026). The governing manual is now AFMAN 36-2905, dated 24 March 2026.

This page documents the legacy standards for anyone reading a pre-2026 score or researching how the test changed. If you are testing now, use the current 2026 Air Force PT standards and the USAF PT Calculator.

The biggest practical changes: the run is half a mile longer (or you choose the HAMR), your waistline now counts through WHtR, and a 90+ no longer buys a year between tests: an Excellent is due again in 6 months, the same as a Satisfactory ¶3.10.1, 3.10.2. Frequently Asked Questions

Are the 2024 and 2025 Air Force PT charts still valid?+
No. Air Force fitness testing paused on 1 January 2026, the new PFRA charts took effect on 1 March 2026 with diagnostic testing through 30 June, and official PFRA scoring began on 1 July 2026 (af.mil, 6 Jan 2026 and 23 Jul 2026). The rules now come from AFMAN 36-2905 (24 March 2026), which superseded DAFMAN 36-2905 (22 April 2022). The legacy charts only help you read a score earned before the change.
What replaced the 1.5-mile run?+
A 2-mile run or the 20-meter HAMR (AFMAN 36-2905 para. 3.1.2.4). The 2-km walk is not an ordinary alternative: it is allowed only when your AF Form 469 authorizes it, it is pass/fail with no points, and it can't produce an Excellent (paras. 3.7.3, 3.15.12.1 and 4.1.3).
Where can I download the old Air Force PT chart PDF?+
AFPC's Fitness Program page now links the 2026 PFRA charts, the AFSPECWAR/EOD charts, the Warfighter's Fitness Playbook and AFMAN 36-2905 (as captured on 11 August 2026), not the retired PFA charts. We haven't found an official archive copy; if you need one for a records question, ask your UFPM or fitness assessment cell.
Does my score from the old PT test carry over to 2026?+
There's no conversion. The events and point scales are different, and AFMAN 36-2905 has no rule for turning a legacy PFA score into a PFRA score. Your due dates under the new rules are set by your UFPM in myFitness, the only authorized system for scheduling and scoring (AFMAN 36-2905 paras. 2.28.4 and 7.1).
How often did you test under the 2024-2025 standards?+
Under the superseded 2022 manual, a composite of 90 or above put you on a 12-month cycle and a passing score below 90 meant testing again in 6 months. That no longer applies: under AFMAN 36-2905 (24 March 2026), Excellent and Satisfactory are both due again in 6 months (12 months for the Air Reserve Component), and Unsatisfactory in 3 months (paras. 3.10.1 to 3.10.3, Table 3.3).
