Scoring charts

AFSPECWAR/EOD uses AFPC’s sex-neutral, age-normed charts (AFMAN 36-2905 para. 1.3.3). Who uses them

Test-site altitude

At 5,250 ft or higher, run times get a credit (Table A3.1) and HAMR scores get 1–4 extra shuttles (Table A3.4).

How scoring works

What the 2026 Air Force PT calculator includes

Four components add up to 100 points. Pick your events, enter your numbers, and the score updates as you type.

Cardio component

Worth 50 points. Options include the traditional 2-mile run or the 20m HAMR shuttle run.

Strength component

Worth 15 points. Options include standard 1-minute push-ups or 2-minute hand-release push-ups.

Core component

Worth 15 points. Options include 1-minute sit-ups, 2-minute cross-leg reverse crunches, or forearm plank.

Age & gender standards

Points and event minimums are customized based on 9 age brackets and biological gender.

Exemptions & profiles

For members authorized to assess without a component (ALC, AMRO retention or the 2-km walk), active components are scaled to a 100-point composite.

What it takes to pass

The short version of how the 2026 PFRA is scored and what changes your result.

What score do you need to pass the Air Force PT test?

To achieve a passing status on the 2026 PT test, you must meet two concurrent benchmarks:

  • Composite Score: A minimum total score of 75.0 points out of 100.0.
  • Event Minimums: You must meet at least the starred chart minimum on every event you take — 2.5 of 15 points for strength and core, 35 of 50 for cardio. Missing the minimum on even one event results in an automatic overall failure.

How age and gender affect your score

Scoring sheets are divided into 9 age categories (e.g., Under 25, 25–29, 30–34, up to 60+) and separate charts for male and female service members. The physical benchmarks adjust dynamically to account for biological and physiological variations, ensuring age-appropriate and fair physical standards across the force.

How exemptions and profiles affect scoring

Under AFMAN 36-2905 (24 March 2026), a component exemption on your AF Form 469 normally places you on PFRA Hold: you do not take an official PFRA until it expires. Members returned to duty with an Assignment Limitation Code, members retained by their commander after AMRO review, and members authorized the 2-kilometer walk assess on the components they are cleared for, and their composite is calculated from those components. For example, if cardio is not assessed, strength, core and body composition (50 max points) are scaled to a 100-point composite.

USAF PT calculator, PFA calculator, and PFRA calculator

Whether you search for an Air Force PT calculator, PFA calculator, PFRA calculator, or USAF fitness calculator, this tool helps you estimate your Air Force fitness assessment scoring for the 2026 Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment. The terms PT test, PFA, and PFRA all refer to the same Air Force fitness assessment, governed by AFMAN 36-2905 (formerly DAFMAN 36-2905).

Final scoring should always be confirmed with current Air Force guidance and your Unit Fitness Program Manager (UFPM).

How we verify calculator accuracy

The scoring tables are generated by script from the official AFPC PFRA charts (effective 1 March 2026, with AFPC’s 17 March correction). Every rep, second and shuttle maps to the exact point value printed for your age group and gender, and the waist-to-height ratio is truncated to two decimals as AFMAN 36-2905 para. 3.15.4.2 requires. There is no estimating between rows.

  • Pass/fail determination checks both the composite 75.0-point threshold and each event’s starred chart minimum simultaneously.
  • When you’re authorized to assess without a component, the composite is figured from the components you take (para. 3.7.3) and scaled to 100.
  • An automated test suite checks the engine against the worked examples printed in AFMAN 36-2905 itself, such as 39.5 ÷ 72 = 0.54 and the 24-month failure window.
  • Every change is dated in the changelog, and readers who run the test help us correct anything we miss.

Source & methodology

Event points come from AFPC’s PFRA scoring charts, generated by script from the PDFs. The rules around them (minimums, categories, the 2-km walk, altitude corrections, the Tier 2 body fat assessment and AFSPECWAR/EOD scoring) come from AFMAN 36-2905, with the paragraph cited wherever a rule is applied.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about scoring, minimums and exemptions.

How do I calculate my USAF PT score?

Select your gender and age group in the Member Profile, then choose your exercises and enter your repetitions, hold times, run time or HAMR shuttles. The calculator scores them on the AFPC charts and applies the AFMAN 36-2905 rules.

What is a passing Air Force PT score in 2026?

A passing score requires a minimum composite score of 75.0 points and meeting the chart minimum on every event you take (2.5 pts for strength and core, 35 pts for cardio).

Does age affect the Air Force PT score?

Yes. The charts have nine 5-year age groups, and each event’s minimum and maximum change by group. Body composition uses one table for every age.

Does gender affect the Air Force PT score?

Yes, there are separate scoring standards for male and female members to ensure fair and physiological standards.

Can I calculate my score with an exemption?

Yes, if you are authorized to assess without a component: an ALC with enduring restrictions, commander-approved retention after AMRO review, or the 2-km walk. Select "Exempt" on that component and the calculator scales the rest to a 100-point composite. Most component exemptions instead place you on PFRA Hold, with no PFRA until the AF Form 469 expires (AFMAN 36-2905 para. 4.1.2).

Is this the official Air Force PT calculator?

No. It’s an independent, unofficial tool built on the official AFPC charts. myFitness is the only authorized system to schedule and score PFRAs (AFMAN 36-2905 para. 7.1), and scores are official once entered there.

Where can I find the official score charts?

AFPC publishes the PFRA scoring charts as a separate PDF on its Fitness Program page (effective 1 March 2026, corrected 17 March 2026). AFMAN 36-2905 holds the rules, plus the walk, body fat and altitude tables.

What happens if you don't pass the PT test in the Air Force?

An official Unsatisfactory makes your next PFRA due in the 3rd month; testing earlier needs commander approval (AFMAN 36-2905 para. 3.10.3). You enter the Fitness Reconditioning Program, and your commander must consider administrative action. Four Unsatisfactory scores in 24 months require a discharge or retention recommendation after a medical review, not automatic separation (para. 8.1.3). What happens if you fail

How many pushups do you need to pass the Air Force PT test?

You must reach the push-up chart minimum for your age group (worth 2.5 points). This varies by age and gender: for example, a male under 25 requires a minimum of 30 standard push-ups in 1 minute, while a female under 25 requires a minimum of 15 standard push-ups.

What are the exemptions for the Air Force fitness test?

AFMAN 36-2905 Table 4.1 lists them: medical component, modality and composite exemptions documented on the AF Form 469, extended-duration profiles, pregnancy, deployment, ARC non-participation, and retirement or separation within 12 months. A component exemption normally means PFRA Hold, while a modality exemption lets you test on a cleared alternative exercise.
